East Central University freshman softball player Leah Tigert has been named the Great American Conference Player of the Week for March 6.
The Hennepin, Okla., native had a strong performance over the week, helping the Lady Tigers to a 5-1 record, including a 3-1 start to the GAC season at Southwestern.
For the week, Tigert hit .643 with nine hits, two doubles, one triple, eight RBIs and two runs scored. She capped off the week with the game-winning double against Southwestern in the top of the seventh inning of game four versus the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Tigers will resume GAC action this weekend, with a four-game series at Lady Tiger Field against Arkansas-Monticello. The first game starts at 1 p.m., Friday, March 8.
