Women’s Golf Finishes Eighth at Doc Housewright Invitational

The East Central University women’s golf team finished eighth at the 2013 Doc Housewright Invitational hosted by Tarleton State at Harbor Lakes Country Club.

Freshman Sarah Delong paced the Lady Tigers with a 157 (77-80) and finished tied for 15th overall. The Elgin, Okla., native hit a season low of 77 in the opening round, which was four strokes better than her previous best of 81.

Senior Emily Wharton finished tied for 29th, with a two-day total of 164 (81-83). Senior Ashley Cardwell came in 34th with a 167 (85-82), sophomore Lindsey Lunceford was 47th with a 180 (95-85) and freshman Megan Gowens was 48th with a 181 (93-88).

The Lady Tigers will now head to the Great American Conference Championship, April 14-16 at the Hot Springs Country Club in Hot Springs, Ark.
