The East Central University women’s golf team finished ninth at the 2013 Lions Classic hosted by Arkansas-Fort Smith at Hardscrabble Country Club.
The Lady Tigers finished with a two-day total of 712 (362-350), just two strokes from eighth place.
Sophomore Lindsey Lunceford led ECU with a 171 (88-83) and tied for 28th. Senior Ashley Cardwell was tied for 36th, just four strokes behind with a 175 (89-86).
Fellow senior Emily Wharton ended in 40th, with a score of 182 (93-89). Sophomore Shay Shaw was 41st, with a 184 (92-92) and freshman Madison Myers was 45th with a 195 (98-97).
The Lady Tigers have one more tournament on the schedule before going to the Great American Conference Championship, April 14-16. ECU will travel to Granbury, Texas for the Doc Housewright Invitational hosted by Tarleton State., April 7-9.
Men’s Golf Finishes Fifth at Lion’s Classic
FORT SMITH, ARK. – The East Central University men’s golf team moved up two spots to finish fifth at the 2013 Lions Classic hosted by Arkansas Forth Smith at Hardscrabble Country Club.
The Tigers finished day one with a score of 315 and cut 11 strokes off their total (304) on day two for a two-day total of 619.
Freshmen Jason Goben and Blade Knox both tied for 19th, out of 53 participants, with scores of 154. Goben shot 78 and 76, while Knox hit 82 on day one and cut 10 strokes off that total (72) on day two.
Junior Travis Arnold tied for 24, with a score of 155 (76-79) and senior Travis Keeley was 31st with a 158 (79-79). Senior Dakota Robbins rounded out the field tied for 32nd, with a 159 (82-77).
ECU will play its final tournament before the Great American Conference, April 1-3 for the UCO Broncho Classic at Gailardia Country Club in Edmond, Okla.
