Women’s Golf Moves Up One Spot at GAC Championship


HOT SPRINGS, ARK. – The East Central University women’s golf team moved up one spot to fifth in the Great American Conference Championship standings.

The Lady Tigers finished the day with a 323, 10 strokes less than day one (333), and now have a 656 total. The total puts them seven strokes behind Arkansas Tech in fourth with a 649.

Senior Ashley Cardwell finished the day with a 75 and moved up to a tie for fourth individually, with a 155. Senior Emily Wharton is 18th with a 166, sophomore Lindsey Lunceford is tied for 19th with a 167, freshman Megan Gowens is 22nd with 168 and freshman Sarah Delong is 30th with a 180.

The final day of competition is scheduled to start at 8 a.m., Tuesday, April 16.

Men’s Golf Moves Up to Third at GAC Championship

HOT SPRINGS, ARK. – The East Central University men’s golf team had an outstanding day on the links, moving from tenth to third in the GAC Championship standings.

The Tigers, who finished with a 314 in day one, shot the best-round of the day with a 287 in day two, including two players who finished under par. ECU now has a two-day total of 601 just 12 shots behind the leader Arkansas Tech (589).

Senior Dakota Robbins finished the day four-under par with a 68 after recording a 75 in day one. Robbins is currently third individually with a two-day total of 143. Junior Travis Arnold is tied for 15th with 152, freshman Jason Goben is tied for 24th with a 155, freshman Blade Knox is tied for 30th with a 156 and senior Travis Keeley is tied for 36th with a 158.

The final day of competition is scheduled to start at 8 a.m., Tuesday, April 16.
