Women’s Tennis Prepares for Tough Weekend

The East Central University women’s tennis team will have a tough weekend on the courts at the Cameron Quad. The Lady Tigers (5-5, 2-1 GAC) will face three ranked opponents over the course of two days before coming home to host Henderson State for a key Great American Conference match.

ECU will be at the Cameron Quad April 5-6 and face Cameron (No. 18), St. Mary’s (No. 28) and Tarleton State (No. 17). The Lady Tigers will then return home to battle with Henderson State, Sunday April 7.

The Aggies come into this weekend’s matches with a 13-3 overall and 1-2 record in the Lone Star Conference. Cameron will face Abilene Christian, Thursday, April 4 before hosting the quad event.

The Rattlers are 13-4 overall and 4-0 in the Heartland after winning their last two matches. The Lady Tigers and St. Mary’s have already faced each other this season, with the Rattlers earning a 0-9 win.

The Texanns are 8-8 overall and 2-1 in the Lone Star after dropping their last match.

Henderson State is currently 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the GAC after losing 0-9 to both Southeastern and Arkansas Tech. The Lady Reddies have also played two non-conference matches against teams from the GAC, losing 1-8 to ATU and 3-6 to Ouachita Baptist early in the season.

The Lady Tigers have gone 4-1 in their last five matches and played eight matches between March 11 and April 1. ECU will be very active in the final weeks of the regular season, with this weekend’s matches starting a string of nine matches over the next 12 days.
