Former southeastern baseball pitching standout Heath Wyatt has earned a spot on the Texas League North Division All-Star Team and will participate in the 77th Annual Texas League All-Star Game on June 25 at Arvest Park in Springdale, Ark.
The Searcy, Ark., native spent two season with the Savage Storm as a closer and wrote his name in the SE record book, matching or posting four season or career records, including the single season saves mark.
Wyatt has gone 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in 11 relief outings since joining Springfield from High-A Palm Beach on May 27.
He has added 10 strikeouts, not issued a single walk and only allowed four runs on 13 hits through 13.1 total innings of work. Wyatt has not allowed a single run since June 11 against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, compiling a scoreless streak of five outings and 6.1 innings.
A Midwest League Midseason All-Star a year ago, Wyatt was selected by the Cardinals in the 33rd round of the 2011 June Draft.
He is one of six players who will represent the Cardinals in the in the Texas League All-Star Game.
