I think the problem with the 2A schools in our area is that they eventually run into Ponder, Brock, or Krum in the early rounds of playoffs. Those schools put basketball first and are well coached. Most of their kids play basketball year round. That may be slowly changing as Ponder and Krum have started football recently.

Can anybody tell what is wrong in Whitewright, we always get invited to the prom, but once we get there we forget how to dance, and what I mean by prom,is we get to the playoffs in most all sports, but can't seem to be able to get over the hump, or to the next level, some say its coaching, some say its the players, I tend to lean to the latter, I witness a basketball game last week between Whitewright and Ponder. What I saw was a lack of effort for the most part out of the kids, what happen to pride, its not bad getting beat, but it is bad getting beat with no heart. I think the main reason we can't get to the next level is because the kids think they have already have arrived, this comes about by listening to the people around town about how good they are. This basketball team should be preparing for the state tournament this weekend in Austin, but they are in off-season, running track, or playing baseball, because of lack of effort and no heart, we were clearly a better team.
