Tipps to leave Southlake Carroll

Former Ardmore Tigers and Sherman Bearcats head coach Ronnie Tipps is stepping down as the athletic director at Southlake Carroll High School.

The resignation is effective on November 24th and Southlake ISD has posted the job opening on their website.

Tipps left Sherman in 2003 to take the athletic director position. During his five years at Carroll, the Dragons won nine team state titles, three of those in football.

Tipps left Sherman as the Bearcats' all-time winningest coach. He also won two state championships as a head coach while at Ardmore in 1990 and in 1992.

Winning a State title in Oklahoma is the equivalent of winning a Region in Texas (only 32 schools per classification in Okla - 32 per Region in Texas).

We could only wish that young would leave Sherman. Maybe we could get some real coaching done.
