You can more information on the Players in Progress at denisonpips@yahoo.com or pipsyeah.com They can use all the support they can get. I too think it is a fantastic opportunity.

Thank you for the courteous and informative feedback re: the Denison Girls BB program. I had not seen them play in recent years until last night, but noticed from following scores in the paper that the program seemed to be going through some tough times. For sure, that Frisco team is pretty salty. Anyway, I hope for better things for the Denison girls. From what I saw, they played hard, and that kind of effort will pay off over time. I also wish those who are injured speedy and full recovery. By the way, I was REALLY IMPRESSED with the little dribblers group that demonstrated their skills late rin teh evening. I can tell you from experience that these kind of programs lead to very positive results. Who does one contact to lend support?

The Denison Girls work very hard every time they take the floor. I would have to agree about the lack of support for the program. These girls have been plagued with injuries, flu etc. all season. They did defeat Denton earlier and 2 other teams over the holidays. In the off season they have to share their facilities and MOST of their teammates with other sports. Some of the young ladies have not even been in the gym 2 whole months to practice basketball and have to play catch up. As for getting beaten by 60 points, They did have 2 starting players on the bench who usually provide scoring and a big defensive boost. Also, Frisco will probably be in Austin this year and those girls really turned it on in this game, perhaps because a University of Arkansas scout was there watching. that game was not a good representation of how the Lady Jackets normally play except tha they kept fighting to the end, even when they knew the game was lost to them. These girls and coach are a class act.

From someone who was at that game. In Denison Girls defense, they had their biggest girl who usually puts a lot of points on the board out with a boot on her ankle and one of the fastest upcoming girls from an injury to the eye. I guarantee you it is not a lack of interest from the Lady Jackets! Maybe a lack of support for the Lady Jackets Basketball program. They can't even get a real coach to replace the Coach that went to serve her country. Frisco is also ranked #9 in the state and is expected to win it all.

Although last nights score isn't listed here, what's the problem with Denison's girls basketball program? Is it lack of interest, poor coaching, or what? A school this size must have a decent talent pool from which to draw. Frisco has agood team, but no one should get beat by almost 60 points. Has soccer cut into participation in basketball?
