High school football is underway in Oklahoma. Teams were allowed to begin workouts on Tuesday, kicking off what promises to be another exciting season.
The Durant Lions stepped out onto the field for the first time since their first round playoff exit last season. Durant opened workouts with hopes of returning to the post-season in 2009. They return 8 starters on defense and received a quarterback transfer that may help bolster an offense that lost Max White to graduation.
The Ardmore Tigers also began workouts on Tuesday. Larry McBroom begins his 2nd season as head coach of the Tigers. After winning 7 state titles in Ada, McBroom's Tigers failed to reach the playoffs in 2008. The Tigers will aim at a post-season return in year two of the McBroom era.
Several other Texoma teams began workouts on Tuesday as well. The regular season begins on September 4th for many teams in Southern Oklahoma.
