This week's A+ Athlete is Haley Heinrich from Gunter, Texas. Haley is always on the go. Between basketball and school she stays busy. She's lettered the last three years in track, and you can usually find her shooting hoops, running track, or hitting the books.
Haley, who maintains a 4.0 GPA, says she owes it all to Mom.
"My role model is my mother...She was a basketball player, she did everything for me, she's a great person, she inspires me. She played basketball and made good grades. She's always been there for me."
When she's not playing sports or in the classroom, Haley uses her remaining free time to be an active member of her community. A member of the Beta Club, Haley is a part of the Adopt a Grandparent Program and she has been in Walk-A-Thons benefiting St. Jude.
Coach Bruce Keatts at Gunter High School has seen Haley's both academic and athletic prowess.
"She represents what a student athlete is about. She's one of the top students in her class, if not the top. She's been a tremendous asset to our team. I taught Haley in class so I know her other than in the gym. She's been an excellent student and has her priorities in order."
Haley plans to attend Texas A&M University where she plans to major in biology and, eventually, become a surgeon.
