Callisburg proves to be Army Strong

The Callisburg Wildcats have been chosen as the Army Strong team of the week for 2A football. Here is the press release from the U.S. Army:

Dave Campbell’s Texas Football is proud to announce that the Callisburg High School Wildcats football team has been named the Army Strong Team of the Week for Division 2A.

The Callisburg Wildcats were chosen for this honor because of their teamwork, dedication, discipline, personal courage and integrity, values shared by U.S. Army Soldiers.

“Callisburg's outstanding defense came up with a big play to secure a 21-13 win over previously unbeaten McGregor,” said Adam Hochfelder, general manager of Dave Campbell's Texas Football. “The Wildcat defense sacked the quarterback on a pivotal fourth-down play in the final two minutes to stop McGregor's last drive. Callisburg now advances to face Bushland in the state semifinals.”

The award will be presented to the team at a time to be determined later this week by a representative of the U.S. Army.

"The U.S. Army is recognizing the student-athletes at Callisburg High School for demonstrating qualities similar to those exhibited by its Soldiers. Student-athletes and Soldiers share similar values, but more importantly they must be mentally, emotionally and physically strong," said Captain Joshua Fishman. "We expect to see some of these young men competing at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, the college level, or maybe even professionally in the future."

I have been watching wildcat football since 1996 when myself and family move here. I don't alot of history before that date, but I can tell you this team we had on the field this year was by far the best to date (no my son did not play on the team he played on one of the teams of the past). I told my counter parts in the anouncers booth early this year that this defense was the best I had seen so far this year. Not to mention the offense could hold there on against anyone. I am so bold that I would say if we could of pulled out the win against Bushland with our defense we could of gave Dangerfield a scare...... I just saying.. Word..
