I don't even have children.... Isn't all that traveling in the wee hours of night - a school night! - Child Endangerment?

Pwillie- All it takes is a phone call to substaniate what I said. It is common knowledge around the local 2A schools. Denison dad-your comments were funny...keep it up the humor!

Anonymous, why don't you give a brief explanation of how the system works to help bring some of us up to speed. And, The Truth, do you know for a fact that Gunter has an employee on the realignment committee or is it just conjecture on your part? While I agree the committee must have been short a few cards from their deck, please don't make comments you can't substantiate.

THE REASON GUNTER CONTINOUSLY GETS A FAVORABLE DISTRICT IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE AN EMPLOYEE OF THIER SCHOOL DISTRICT ON THE UIL REALIGNMENT COMMITEE. LOOK AT THIER CURRENT DISTRICT, MAKES NO SENSE HOW THEY AVOIDED PILOT POINT, AUBREY,PONDER,KRUM AND PUT PBORO IN THERE. HOPE THAT ANSWERS THE QUESTIONS IN HOWE.

With all of the talk about travel times and fuel prices, the powers that be must have been asleep at this meeting. Sherman and Denison will be traveling all of the time as will Melissa and some other 2A schools. What is up with a couple of Dallas schools getting in 1A districts up here. Where is North Hopkins in all of the 1A redistricting. I see a lot of cuts in school programs,i.e.-band, UIL academics, one act play, etc, that do not generate income from ticket sales to cover fuel costs. Put the schools together by classification of 1A, 2A, 3A, etc and throw out the large and small groupings within the classifications. The late nights for basketball and jv football as well as jr high events during the weekdays will hurt the academics of the students. Remember, these kids are going to school for an education first-sports second.

to anon @ 5:54pm- I think more parents are upset about the distance the buses will have to travel, the late school nights and parents that want to watch their children participate will possibly have to take off work early just to make the games. It's not always about winning or losing.

Before you people start complaining about Gunter or Howe or anyone else, you should really understand the whole way realignment is done. Then you can complain. I have a feeling 97% of y'all have no idea how it works. So just quit complaining and get over it. Y'all are just complaining because y'all know Gunter will just kill their district.

im a sherman fan and believe that melissa got it worse than sherman and denison did. all but one of their drives will be 2 hours long

The reason gunter probably isnt with howe is because they have someone on the realignment board. Last realignment gunter should have went with cburg, pilot point, and aubrey, rather than Pottsboro. Gunter must have a great inside source

WOW! Sherman and Denison got slapped in the face! I know these two schools dominated the past two years, but it's not their fault. They just happen to have the talent and timing on their side. Don't punish them by sending them to the edge of the state just to play a sporting event. No one went to the Big Spring game this past year, do you really think they're up for East Texas??? The safety of the kids is not an issue here, since no one was complaining about when Sher/Den was heading West in the 90s, and South all last decade. That's a bunch of BS. Money does play into it.....But also the simple fact that programs rely on selling tickets. All schools are going to lose money from the visiting crowd not making the trip because it's so far away. This needs to be fixed. Send them back down to Dallas.
