DURANT, OK - Drew Young has been a big part of Texoma football over the years, but now it appears that his days as the athletic director in Durant have come to an end.
After just one year on the job, Young has been asked to resign by the Durant Independent School District. Oddly enough, contracts were renewed on Monday, and Young's contract was indeed renewed. Just two days later Young was called in and asked to resign Young has not complied, as of Thursday evening.
A familiar name in Texoma, Young grew up in Ardmore and coached there under Ronnie Tipps. Young then came over to Sherman High School with Tipps as an assistant before leading the Bearcats as their head coach for six years. Just a year ago he became the athletic director in Durant, and now his tenure there appears to be over.
As for the reason of his potential departure, that hasn't been confirmed, although Durant did have some eligibility issues this year with some of their student-athletes.
