Sherman beats Denison, forces play-in game

The Sherman Bearcats beat the Denison Yellow Jackets 17-8 to work their way into a play-in game on Saturday afternoon in Frisco.

Sherman rattled off seven runs in the first inning against the Jackets and never looked back. The Bearcats completed a two game season sweep of Denison to control bragging rights in the storied series.

" We had some good at-bats and were able to score some runs," Sherman coach Gary Cosper said. "The kids were excited. We knew we had to win to keep playing tomorrow."

The Bearcats will play Wakeland at Frisco High School at 2:00pm on Saturday to keep their season alive as a part of a three way tie for 2nd place.

"Wakeland is really good up and down their lineup," Cosper said. "Everyone threw their number ones (pitchers) tonight, so tomorrow will be tough."
