DENISON, TX - Denison ISD has announced its top three finalists for the highly sought-after position of Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, following an extensive search that attracted more than 170 applicants.
The three finalists are Randy Jackson, Head Football Coach and Athletic Coordinator at Mesquite Poteet High School; Chad Rogers, Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Snyder High School; and Willie Amendola, Head Football Coach at Dekaney High School, Spring ISD in the Houston area. A short bio of each is attached.
According to Dr. Henry Scott, DISD Superintendent, the district plans to name the new Head Coach and Athletic Director and introduce him to the public at a news conference on Monday, March 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the Board Room of the district’s Administration Building.
“Champion Coach Search Firm has done a great job of reviewing all applicants and interviewing the top candidates. They worked from a profile we provided them of the type of person we wanted to lead our athletic programs. The profile included not only a successful football coach and athletic administrator, but a person of high moral character who would be a strong role model for our student athletes,” said Dr. Scott. District administrators had little involvement in the application review process until Champions had narrowed the pool of qualified individuals. At that point, we began the interview process here, conducting lengthy and very involved interviews, eventually selecting the coach that we felt would be the best fit for our students and our community. I can assure you that the selection process has been tough. The strong Yellow Jacket tradition attracted some of the best talent in the state.”
