I think Melissa will handle 3A just fine...they have been spankin local 3A teams for the last 2 yrs. in non district. The only team in their district this year that they havent already spanked in scrimmage/game situation is Princeton. And Princeton wins/losses to VA by close scores. But when VA plays Melissa its been a massacre the past two years. 63-25 win against VA, with 2nd string in on both sides of ball all of the 2nd half. Not to mention the mudhole they stomped on Dangerfield who still had players from their back to back 3A state championships.42-14. Underscore them if you wish, but Melissa is the new up and coming Celina in this area. Dont know of many teams who can win 7on7 state titles and class state titles in just a matter of 8 total years of playin ball. Much credit to that towns coaching staff for building such a solid program and system that the players believe and put their all into.

  • by chris Location: pottsboro on Feb 2, 2012 at 11:33 AM
Just because we have us a Family Dollar store now doesn't make us a 3A team:) Not even close to 3A numbers.

Thats OK chris, when VA gets ahold of Pottsboro that will be it, Pottsboro should be in 3A that would keep from them thinking they can win all the time

They should be right there with Melissa, I know alot of these schools that they are in the district with this next year are not going to look forward in playing them, they have no competion at all except for Van Alstyne, VA will beat them VA has a good football team always have and alway will have

For VA to have such great teams year after year, I would think you would have to make it out of the first round of playoffs more often than 1 time since 2001. Not to mention a certain non district game that VA still has to play that had a defeat of 63-25 this last year.

Lets see if Melissa can handle the heat this next year since they are a 3A school now, I don't think they can
