McCoy tells paper he’ll return to Texas

AUSTIN, Texas (AP)—Texas quarterback Colt McCoy confirmed that he’ll return to the Longhorns for his senior season in 2009.

McCoy has led No. 3 Texas (11-1) to a Fiesta Bowl matchup against Ohio State with 3,445 yards passing and 32 touchdowns, both team records. He’s also the team’s leading rusher with 576 yards and is expected to be a finalist for the Heisman Trophy this week.

“I’m not going anywhere,” McCoy said in an interview published Monday on the Austin American-Statesman’s Web site.

McCoy said he wants to try to win a national championship next season after falling one spot short of the Bowl Championship Series title game this season.

McCoy has said all season he plans to be back next year, but said recently that he would at least inquire about his potential draft status.

Yeah. When Colt found he would more than likely NOT be taken early in the NFL draft, he decided to stay in texas for another year of disappointment. Maybe in a couple of years he can be Sam Bradford's waterboy.... If he's lucky. This year McCoy has thrown for 3445 yds, & 32 TDs. Bradford has thrown for 4,464 yds, & 48 TDs and led the nation in passing efficiency. Colt was the leading rusher for the longhorns, with 576 yds?!?!?! Texas didn't have a running back that could rush for more than that in a year? OU has two running backs that gained over 1000 yds each. Their 3rd string back ran for over 400 yds. Maybe McCoy can be a third string back in the NFL.....If he's lucky.
