DALLAS (AP) - The Dallas Mavericks have a new weapon in their fight against Western Conference point guards: Rodrigue Beaubois.
Mavs coach Rick Carlisle says he doesn't know if they can expect him to be a rotation player, but they do expect him to be a momentum player.
Beaubois was first discovered by an NBA player on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, then seasoned with three years of pro experience in France.
The 21-year-old Beaubois said he's ready to try stopping some of the NBA's best guards.
The Mavericks got an up-close look with a workout in Dallas.
Team president Donnie Nelson said Beaubois wowed everyone with drills that were "milliseconds behind Devin Harris," one of the fastest guards in the NBA.
Nelson said that if Beaubois can't earn time in the Mavericks' rotation, he'll get seasoning in the D-League.
