EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) - Goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin picked up his 300th career victory and the Edmonton Oilers won their first game of the season with a 5-4 shootout win over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night.
Ales Hemsky scored the shootout winner. Mike Comrie, Sam Gagner, Dustin Penner and Denis Grebeshkov scored in regulation for the Oilers (1-1-0).
Brenden Morrow responded with a pair of goals while James Neal and Stephane Robidas also scored for Dallas (0-0-2).
