The Texas Rangers have used their two first-round draft picks on left-handed hitters from the prep ranks, selecting Georgia outfielder Jake Skole at No. 15 and Canadian catcher Kellin Deglan with the 22nd pick.
The Rangers had two more picks Monday night, at Nos. 45 and 49
Skole was also a safety and wide receiver in football at Blessed
Trinity High in suburban Atlanta. He has committed to play both
sports at Georgia Tech.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Deglan played at Langley High in British
Columbia. He bats left-handed, but throws right-handed.
The 15th, 45th and 49th picks are compensation for players the
Rangers lost in free agency and an unsigned pick from last year.
The 22nd pick was their regular slot.
