The Colorado Rockies have selected University of Oklahoma pitcher Jonathan Gray with the third overall pick in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft.
Gray helped OU to the super regionals of the NCAA tournament by going 10-2 with a 1.59 ERA and 138 strikeouts in 119 innings. Gray's fastball has been clocked in the mid- to upper-90s and occasionally reached 100 mph.
The Rockies were not scared away by recent reports that Gray tested positive for the medication Adderall during a testing program before the draft.
Houston drafted Stanford pitcher Mark Appel with the No. 1 pick and the Chicago Cubs selected San Diego's Kris Bryant with the second choice.
