Name: Robin Beal
Title: Ardmore Bureau Chief
Email Address: robin.beal@kxii.com

Robin Beal serves as KXII’s Ardmore Bureau Chief, covering Southern Oklahoma along with the rest of the First News Ardmore Bureau team.

Robin is a 15-year broadcast veteran, and started out spinning records at KCAR-AM in Clarksville, Texas when he was still in Jr. High. In high school he found himself covering stories like President Clinton’s ’96 visit to Longview, alongside network correspondents. Robin later went on to work behind the scenes in technical roles at KTVT-TV in Ft. Worth, Dallas’ Texas Cable News, and KHWB-TV in Houston.

He served as a Director at ABC’s KTRK in Houston for six years, and was privileged to work with his childhood mentor, Peter Jennings, when World News Tonight was broadcast from Houston on a few occasions. Robin has also worked with journalism greats like Charles Gibson, Dave Ward, and the legendary Marvin Zindler.

Prior to joining the First News team in January 2008, Robin was out traveling the world again, on sabbatical from television for over a year. During that time he lived on New Zealand’s wild and remote West Coast, working odd jobs in a tire shop and also as a bartender and DJ. He also spent some time in Australia, the Cook Islands, and the Middle East, and worked leading small group adventure tours in Morocco for three months. He speaks a little Arabic.

Robin has a particular fascination with the Middle East and its people, and has covered most of Egypt and Jordan on his own, visiting the Great Pyramids twice now and the ancient “lost city” of Petra. He has also wandered around Western Europe in countries like Greece, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and The Netherlands.

He grew up in De Kalb, Texas, and is an honors graduate of De Kalb High School. Robin also attended the University of Texas at Arlington and Texarkana College.
