As a North Texas native, Allison Harris is excited to begin her journalism career in the great state of Texas! She joined the KXII News Team in May 2012.
She was born and raised in McKinney, TX, where she graduated from McKinney Boyd High School. Her passion to give back to North Texas led her to co-found a nonprofit organization in 2009 that brings distinguished speakers into McKinney high schools.
Her journalism experience includes interning at NBC Washington, reporting in Sherman/Denison, writing for McKinney Living magazine and anchoring, reporting and producing for OU Nightly, OU’s award-winning student newscast. In the past two years, Allison has been awarded 1st and 2nd Place Student TV News Anchor in the nation from the Broadcast Education Association and received the highest honor from the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters.
Allison is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in journalism. During her time at OU, she was a member of the OU President’s Leadership Class and served as chairwoman for the Gaylord College Ambassadors and president of her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma. Some of her memorable experiences include introducing OU President David L. Boren at an event in Dallas, hosting Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett and interviewing CSPAN Founder and CEO Brian Lamb.
When Allison is not reporting the news, she is reading, spending time with family and friends and volunteering.
Allison would love to hear from members of the Texoma community! If you have story ideas or just want to say hi, send her an email.
