MURRAY COUNTY, Okla. -- It was a scary night for a Murray County Sheriff's Deputy on Monday. According to the Davis Police Department, officers were in pursuit of 53-year-old Shannon Gilbert of Pauls Valley.
After numerous attempts to pull Gilbert over, a chase began down Highway 77 in Davis. With the help of the sheriff’s office, authorities were able to box Gilbert in. That's when he rammed a sheriff's deputy's car and injured the deputy.
Gilbert was taken into custody and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felony eluding, driving under the influence, and several other charges.
The deputy was a K-9 officer, so another charge of assault on a police dog is pending.
The deputy is doing fine. He was taken to a local hospital for back injuries where he was treated and released.
