DURANT, Okla. -- Officials say a Durant monument is in danger of being torn down. It sits on the east side of 9th Street, south of the city.
ODOT discovered the monument while planning the Highway 70 bypass project.
They say the engraving is just one of several monuments placed in eastern Oklahoma by Mrs. Ora O'Reilly in the 1940's.
Officials say they hope someone will relocate the monument in the next few months before it's destroyed.
