Atoka woman injured in Kingfisher County accident

SHERMAN, Tex. -- A hit and run accident happened just before midnight in the 400 block of West Lamberth in Sherman. Police say a brown Pontiac Sunfire was backing out of a driveway when a white Pontiac Grand-Am accelerated into the car.
The suspect then fled the scene.
Moments later witnesses say the Grand-Am returned, striking the Sunfire again.
This time a witness, Danny Ray Cootes, attempted to stop the suspect but was partially inside the vehicle when the suspect began to drive away.
It was another several blocks before Cootes fell out of the car and the suspect ran over him.
"The suspect was driving a white Grand-Am, possibly a female. That’s all the information we're releasing at this time," said Sgt. Bruce Dawsey of the Sherman Police Department.
Cootes was taken to Parkland Hospital where he was treated for a broken wrist he is expected to be released sometime Thursday afternoon.
