SHERMAN, Tex. -- A southeast Texas man accused of sex crimes was taken into custody in Sherman. Richard Brian Lummus, 42, was taken into custody on Wednesday by Sherman PD.
Lummus has outstanding warrants in Jasper County, which is near Beaumont. He is accused of indecency with a child and aggravated sexual assault of a child. Officers tell us because of the nature of crimes, officers felt they really need to go look for this guy.
"With that kind of warrant, we put extra effort into located the van, knocked on the door, confirmed who he was, and made the arrest," said Sgt. Bruce Dawsey of the Sherman Police Department.
Officers found Lummus was arrested at a home on Brinkley, which is just two blocks away from a pre-school. Lummus is still in the Grayson County Jail this evening, awaiting extradition to Jasper.
