Mom arrested for child endangerment

SHERMAN, Tex. --A Sherman mother is behind bars for endangering her kids. Police say a tip led them to an apartment where they found three young children all home alone. Police say it happened around 7:30 Wednesday night in the 4800 block of Highgrove Drive.

When the officers arrived at the apartment they say a three-year-old girl answered the door and said she was home alone. The officers went inside and found two doors tied shut with string. Inside they found a two-year-old sleeping in one room and an 11-month-old sleeping in another.

When 23-year-old Lena Harper returned home, she was arrested for child endangerment, a felony. Harper was gone for about two hours, according to witnesses. She told officers she was going to pick up a car.

Harper was booked into the Grayson County Jail, where she remained as of Thursday night. The children's father took custody of the kids Wednesday night.
