SHERMAN, Tex. -- Fall is in the air, and it's a great time to get out and enjoy the weather and the several festivals going on around the area this weekend, but as Ruth Baker reports it's not all just fun and festivities…it's good for Texoma business.
At the Sherman Wine and Music Festival on Saturday, there will be food, bands and wine. Organizers say all the money raised will go back to help revitalize downtown Sherman.
It's the second year the city has sponsored the event. Last year around 250 people showed up. This year downtown director Deron McCraw says they've already seen ticket sales go up. Many of those people traveling in from out of town.
Mcraw says it's great business for the city of Sherman.
The big draw he says is not just the great jazz bands scheduled to appear but also the twelve different wineries from all over Texas participating in the festival.
"I think everybody’s excited. We're hoping the weather’s going to be good, and the turnout’s going to be good. There’s a lot going on this week end but we hope that everybody will take a chance and come out and spend sometime here in Sherman," says Sherman downtown director Deron McCraw.
Organizers say that you'll also be able to sample some local wines made right here in Grayson County, so they say come out and enjoy the evening at the Municipal Building in downtown Sherman.
