ARDMORE, Okla. - An indictment unsealed in Carter County accuses a former drug task force investigator of stealing seized drug money and staging a burglary to cover up the theft.

The multicounty grand jury indictment was unsealed Monday in Carter County District Court in Ardmore. It accuses 35-year-old Bryant McIntire of one count of embezzlement for allegedly taking $2,300 in seized drug funds.

McIntire is a former investigator with the District 20 Drug Task Force, which operates in Carter, Love, Johnson and Murray counties.

Attorney General Drew Edmondson says McIntire allegedly seized the money during a 2004 arrest but failed to accurately report the amount or file for forfeiture.

Edmondson says when it came to light that the money wasn't properly processed, McIntire staged and reported a burglary at the task force office.

Edmondson says an investigation into the District 20 Drug Task Force is continuing.

McIntire was actually fired from the department when the task force was dissolved.

McIntire was released on a personal recognizance bond.
