Great Days of Service

VAN ALSTYNE, Tex. -- Volunteers in Van Alstyne are out in the community this weekend helping those in need of assistance. It’s all part of the Fifth Annual Van Alstyne Great Days of Service which starts Thursday and ends on Saturday.

Since 2002, four churches have banded together to rebuild homes and help residents in need of any repairs.

This year, officials say volunteers will work on homes, mow lawns, and knit baskets for newborn babies, which are all rewarding.

Organizers encourage younger generations to volunteer as well.
