Sister faces attempted murder charges in stabbing

SHERMAN, Tex. -- A Sherman woman is facing attempted murder charges after police say she stabbed her sister in the neck over the weekend.

Authorities say Thelma Sturges was booked into the Grayson County Jail on Saturday.

Police say she got into a fight with her sister, Maxine, at a home in the 1300 block of East Odneal Rd. During the fight, the sister picked up a butcher knife and stabbed the victim in the neck.

Maxine was taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas in critical condition.

The suspect was arrested Saturday afternoon just before three o'clock and is being held at the Grayson County Jail.

Thelma Sturges is being held on a $150,000 bond.

Sherman Police are still investigating.
