SHERMAN, Tex. -- A Sherman woman is facing attempted murder charges after police say she stabbed her sister in the neck over the weekend.

Authorities say Thelma Sturges was booked into the Grayson County Jail on Saturday.

Police say she got into a fight with her sister, Maxine, at a home in the 1300 block of East Odneal Rd. During the fight, the sister picked up a butcher knife and stabbed the victim in the neck.

Maxine was taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas in critical condition.

The suspect was arrested Saturday afternoon just before three o'clock and is being held at the Grayson County Jail.

Thelma Sturges is being held on a $150,000 bond.

Sherman Police are still investigating.

She needs to take anger mang class and go to prison This is why the world is like it is Hollid Daze how can you say you wouldn't spend money or "war on Drugs" look at her she looks like she could fly 10 kites by the looks of her she had to have been on something you don't just pick up a knife and stab someone especially your sister. and for some one who knows the family I rest my case

I dont know these people, but I think that violent offenders need to be put away. Id rather spend my tax dollars on putting away people that are out to hurt, rather than spending them on the so called "war on drugs".

maybe we should pray for recovery, restoration in the family and healing instead of getting on blogs to leave messages of judgement and noncompassion. there are more than these 2 women that are hurting(like their families) I know if we turn the mirror on ourselves we will probably see something that is just as tragic as this in our own lives!!

Maxine has more assault charges according to the Grayson County Web page. I sincerely hope she lives. I think Thelma was messed up on drugs as was Maxine according to their arrest records. Probably a self defense thing. She will get probation, that's what they usually do. But who am I to judge??

From looking at Maxine's record, she needs to spend a lot more time behind bars. She's a violent person according to the Grayson County Judicial Records. (Sturges not Sturgis)
