GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. -- State environmental officials have recommended the creation of a water conservation district, but it’s been met with some contention from local leaders.
Over 20 cities and water management crews have joined a coalition that is against the formation of a conservation district, which would encompass Grayson, Fannin, Collin, and Denton Counties.
On Wednesday, Jim Mathews, a lawyer who will represent the coalition, laid out the group’s strategy on how to reverse the decision of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality that states a conservation district will be formed.
Mathews fielded questions mainly about the chances the group has to reverse the states opinion.
