DENISON, Tex.-- We have an update to a story we told you about two weeks ago. A stabbing and shooting on Shannon Road in Denison left one man dead, and the suspect fighting for his life. Now the suspect has recovered and is speaking out.
Frank Shipman says he acted in self defense and never had any intention of killing Dennis Weger .
Shipman was released from the hospital a couple of weeks ago and says he is telling his story because he wants to clear his name. Shipman says he fired warning shots after Weger and him began arguing over Weger's son, who had been evicted from his home earlier that day.
Shipman claims Weger became violent, threatening to kill him, a which point, Weger put a filet knife to his throat.
Shipman says, “I blacked out after that and I woke up and he was dragging me down the hallway. He was holding me in a nelson, I asked him to let me go, he said he wasn't going to let me go until I was dead.”
The Denison police is still investigating this incident. No charges have been filed against either party.
