BRYAN COUNTY, Okla. -- A freak accident Saturday afternoon in Bryan County turned deadly. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a pickup truck was traveling northbound on Highway 69/75, moving furniture and other items.
Officials say 29-year-old Charles Baker was standing in the back of that pickup truck holding onto a mattress. The winds were so strong, they knocked both Baker and the mattress out of the vehicle. Baker landed on the highway pavement, he was killed on impact.
The northbound lane was completely shut down, backing up traffic for a couple of hours.
