SHERMAN, Tex. -- A would-be thief got more than he bargained for over the weekend. It happened at Ellis Truck and Auto in Sherman late Saturday night.

A worker said he noticed movement on the security camera, so he went outside to check it out, while his girlfriend called 9-1-1.

What he found was a suspect breaking into cars, trying to steal stereo equipment.

The worker confronted the man at gunpoint and held him until police arrived.

"I saw somebody sneaking behind the white van over here. I told him to get down on the ground or I’d shoot. He complied, we called 9-1-1, and the police showed up," said employee David Chumbley.

Police arrested the 19-year-old suspect and took him to the Grayson County Jail.

This is probably just the beginning of folks going back to protecting their own stuff. There ain't enough cops to go around, and even when they're caught, they get off with practically nothing beyond a big lawyer's bill. Sooner or later, folks will be back to shooting trespassers. Good for Them :)

It is about time we all start taking care of our self and stop saying here - take what you want when the low life -scum come around. Maybe the scums will begin to think - I need to get a JOB and work instead of taking. Way to go. I hear more and more that people are getting involved and getting more educated/training in the art of self protection and letting the scum know we are tired.
