Fannin Co. planning for the future

FANNIN COUNTY, Tex. -- Fannin County leaders are working to secure the future as more and more people move north from the Metroplex.

Fannin County commissioners voted Monday to create a five-person committee that will look into what the county needs to do to help plan for the future that includes improving law enforcement, upgrading the jail, renovating the courthouse, and restoring county roads.

Officials say the committee will meet every other week and bring in suggestions from across the county and then make decisions based on what their constituents say.

"We’ll establish a plan that can incorporate the growth that’s coming and meet the needs that that growth is going to generate on its own that we have no control over, and be ready to meet those needs," Fannin County Judge Butch Henderson said.

The committee’s first meeting is Friday, October 26 at 3 p.m. at the Fannin County Courthouse.
