COOKE COUNTY, Tex. -- A family grieving after their loved one was hit by a semi-truck and killed. Family members say they want to extend sympathy for the truck driver, and asked KXII for help.

Even as they try and recover from this tragic accident, they want the truck driver to know they don't hold any hard feelings.

Oak Ridge police say 35-year-old Daniel Ray Taylor was crossing Highway 82 east of Gainesville, when he was hit by an 18-wheeler coming over the hill. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family members say they have truck drivers in their family and wanted to let the driver know it was an accident. They do not hold anything against him.

They could not locate the driver, so they contacted KXII.

“I would tell him that I’m very sorry this ever happened to him,” said Mary Preston, Taylor’s aunt. “We are considering his feelings, very much so, if he needs help emotionally that he will seek help.”

Family members say Taylor was celebrating some recent good news in his life, and was walking along Highway 82 to meet his ride.

The driver of the semi was said to have pulled over and called authorities after it happened.

The incident is still under investigation.
