ARDMORE, Okla. -- Hundreds of people came together to remember the life of Mary Jane Noble on Tuesday.

A family spokesman says about 300 people attended her funeral at Saint Philip Episcopal Church.

Along with family, several local community leaders also paid their last respects. University of Oklahoma president David Boren and the OU women’s basketball team attended as well.

Noble served on the OU Board of Regents for several years.

She passed away on Friday at the age of 81.

Sam Noble and Jane were two of the most greatest people and friends you would ever want to know. I have known Sam and Jane since my dad started for the Noble Foundation back in the earily 60's. She will be missed just like I miss Sam. Sam used to come out on Saturdays and and sometimes on Sundays and hit golf balls toward SOTC and always come up to the bull test barns when they used to be to the south of the main office. Boy, looking at the place now, I miss the old day, when ever Sam and Jane kept things simple. I used to help my dad on spring breaks with roundups and Sam and Jane knew I was in High School and I always loved doing cowboy work. They always made sure I was paid something even when I always told them no. Sam told my dad and I one time during spring break he like to see young folks like myself riding and roping and doing hard work like it should be done, instead of kids setting in front of TVS all the time. I know they are looking down from heaven on us. They are missed.
