LOVE COUNTY, Okla. -- More than a year after a gruesome murder at a Thackerville rest-stop, the man accused will be sentenced in court Thursday.
Tim Byford plead guilty on September 10th of this year to killing Rufus Lowery at at the rest stop along Interstate 35.
Authorities said Lowery was shot to death.
Shortly after the murder, Byford and another man, Sean Leggett, fled to North Carolina.
The men were caught by U.S. Marshals.
The death penalty is possible in the case but it’s most likely Byford will be given life in prison.
Also in court on Thursday, the co-defendant, Sean Leggett, is expected to enter a guilty plea for the murder.
