ADA, Okla. -- A judge has ordered an Ada woman to stand trial for the death of her teenage son, saying there is probable cause to warrant a trial.

Connie Haines was charged with second degree murder after her 17-year-old son Chris Carpenter was stabbed to death in their home back in July.

Investigators have determined Connie was upset with her husband, James, about a text message he received on his cell phone. When her son tried to break up the fight, he was stabbed.

Authorities do not believe Connie had any intention of killing her son but say she stabbed him while in the commission of a crime, her husband's attempted murder.

Initial reports indicated Connie Haines was "playfully" waving the knife at her husband when her son unexpectedly walked up behind her and was stabbed.

Prosecutors say they now believe Haines was threatening to kill her husband with the knife when Carpenter tried to break up the altercation and was stabbed.

Haines’ arraignment date is set for December 13. She faces from four years to life in prison if convicted.
