SHERMAN, Tex. - A three-year-old child was hospitalized Sunday after being struck by a car. It happened just before 6 p.m. in Sherman.

Police say two children were playing outside of a home in the 100 block of Maxey Street when one of them ran out into the street, striking a car heading north bound.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Wilson N. Jones Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

His mother was treated and released at the scene for fainting multiple times.

Im not related to the mother but i was there soon after the accident happened. i do have many more details than the rest of you ACCIDENTS happen should the parents have had better control of the child?????? i think that we all can agree "YES" should the driver of the car slow down on a very congested residential street i think we also can agree "YES" i also think that you all need to stop the bull and quit making up details about stories that you have only read what the silly goober news wants to report however i will say that this story is fairly well reported by the amatures that work for KKXXIIII.

It is so immature to take a tragic accident such as this and somehow make it about who is from where per the comment about programming on the cartoon network, GROW UP. Reality is that everyone speeds at some point. There is no need to call names. You must be related to the mother of the child and just don't want to admit that maybe she made a mistake. Everytime something happens with children, EVERYONE in the USA asks this question first, "Where were the parents?"

Don't blame the parents, man. I'm sure they're blaming themselves enough for all. Pray that the child can recover, send good thoughts their way. This can happen to anyone. Cars speed through there constantly. You shouldn't go that fast through a residential area. If he was obeying the law , he might've seen the child and been able to stop...

My daughter broke free and ran right in front of a car while we were leaving church one Sunday morning. Fortunately, my husband was able to intervene and flag down the car before my daughter was hit. Why is everybody so quick to blame the parents when tragedy strikes? The parents may have been standing right there and unable to stop this horrifying event.

where were the parents when the child got hit..no 3 year old needs to be outside by there self to start off with that is neglect on the parents part..i have twin neices that are 3years old and i dont even let them outside to play unless im out there with them...so i think that the parents should take better care of the childern than what they did on sunday..which i understand that accidents do happen but please watch your kids better than what you did cause anything could happen and they be taken away from you in a second

the parents were in the yard with the child as were several other adults jan is right sometimes accidents happen. but i have not seen any of you anonymous posters wonder why a vehicle was traveling down a neighborhood street at such a speed as to not be able to stop when a 3yo enters its path (yes i see that the distinguished idiot from oklahoma) spoke about the driver but im still not sure that okies should be allowed to use the internet other than to check programming on the cartoon network. any way pedestrians have the right away regardless of age slow the hell down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How many of you are parents, and remember holding the hand of a 3 year old, and had that child break loose and bolt a good 10 feet before you could catch the child. Before blame should come a bit of investigation..news reports are not always complete. How old was the other "child" and was a parent outside at the time? Accidents do happen, being quick to blame might hurt more than help. My prayers go out to the child and the family and the driver who must also be suffering from trauma. I certainly agree that play time is best done in the BACK yard, but we don't really know what happened here, do we?

I AGREE, WHERE WERE THE PARENTS, AND WHY WEREN'T THEY OUTSIDE WITH THE CHILDREN IN THE FIRST PLACE. 3 YRS. OLD IS NOT OLD ENOUGH TO BE OUTSIDE BY YOURSELF. I HOPE THAT IF THE DRIVER WAS GOING THE SPEED LIMIT THAT THEY WERE NOT GIVEN A TICKET. THERE'S ONLY SO MUCH YOU CAN DO.
