SHERMAN, Tex. -- Kate Wakefield School is celebrating 50 years as an elementary school. The school held its birthday celebration Monday morning with all seven who have served as principal in attendance, including the very first one, principal Bill Scott.

Also in attendance were numerous former teachers, students, and even Sherman mayor Bill Magers.

We spoke to a few people who were there, and most of them were just happy that one school could be this great for so long.

"I think it shows continuity in a school. There’s just a unity there you have in common," former student & SISD employee Bootie Terrell said.

Charlie did this story last evening and stated...do the math, since 1947. Hmmm, I just turned 50 and was born in 1957. Maybe he should go back to school, but wait, isn't he an aggie???
