CHOCTAW COUNTY, Okla. -- A Texas water district is filing an application with the Oklahoma Water Resources Board for more than 37 billion gallons of Oklahoma water each year.
The Upper Trinity Regional Water District in the Dallas area is asking for water from the Boggy Creek Basin in Choctaw County and from the Kiamichi River near Hugo Lake.
The application asks for the water before it reaches the Red River where it becomes too salty to use as drinking water without expensive treatment.
