SHERMAN, Tex. -- Life Star took off from Wilson N. Jones Hospital on Tuesday, but not with its own engines.
Officials had the aircraft lifted by a crane Tuesday afternoon because of a mechanical issue.
The helicopter is on its way to Dallas for repair.
It was quite a sight for people passing by the hospital.
"Oh, it was awesome. I’d never seen a helicopter come down without blades, without flying off,” hospital maintenance tech Tom Joss said.
No word yet if a replacement aircraft will take Life Star's place while it's gone.
