A man accused of killing a Sherman man eight years ago has pleaded guilty to federal charges.

U.S. Attorneys say Fred Lloyd Holder entered the plea on a charge of voluntary manslaughter.

Holder was originally convicted for shooting David Pickens back in September of 1999 but that conviction was later overturned.

Pickens was shot and killed in Choctaw County. Authorities say he was helping a USDA conservationist survey that land.

Holder was sentenced to credit for time served. He was also placed on three years probation.

I know and live right around Fred Holder was raised around him all of my life! I know some bad things he has done, but I don't believe he shot and killed this guy in cold blood, he did it in self defense or he would have not left a witness at all. This man was rude to lots of people around here and Fred could have very well killed both men and burried them out here and no one would have known, but he didn't he left a witness because he believed it was self defense!! I believe he got more than what he deserved!!

I KNOW THE MAN THAT GOT KILLED AND I KNOW THE GUY THAT DID IT. I DON'T THINK HE GOT WHAT HE DESERVED I THINK THE LEGAL SYSTEM IS WRONG FOR LETTING HIM OUT.HE SHOULD HAVE GOT LIFE HE TOOK A LIFE SO IT IS ONLY WRIGHT BUT I GUESS ARROUND THIS PARTS IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOU KILL SOMEBODY YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH IT.I THINK IT WRONG THAT A PERSON CAN GET IN MORE TROUBLE FOR DRUGS THAN KILLING.ONE DAY FRED WILL HAVE TO MEET HIS MAKER THEN HE WILL PAY FOR WHAT HE DID.

Well just like when a Whitesboro resident was shot and killed by a bystander and the shooter got off scott free. yet I had a friend sit in jail for over a year waiting to go to court over a piddly bag of pot.
