DURANT, Okla. -- Just over a week now since Durant's Police Chief, Gary Rudick was placed on administrative leave, he's now suspended without pay for five days. According to the Durant City Manager's office, Rudick was found to be in violation of a personnel policy.

While no one will comment on exactly what the violation was, the press release went on to say, "After gathering and carefully examining the facts regarding this allegation, it has been determined that while not intentional or malicious, a violation of a personnel policy did occur. Based upon this finding, corrective action was determined to be necessary. Chief Rudick was suspended for five days without pay."

Chief Rudick stated he would be out of town for the remainder of the week. During this period, Deputy Chief Greg Pollack will continue to serve as the acting Chief of Police.

Chief Rudick is a good man and a great Cheif, the best we have ever had. it is important to note that he broke no law, and if the accusation was told the average citizen would be appauled by his punishment. The overwelming majority of the officers disagree with what occurred, in the end the officer that lodged this complaint has lost the respect of many of their fellow officers. If you know cheif Rudick and support him please let him know, The city of Durant, The police department and the citizens need Cheif Rudick.

i've seen him in church a lot myself, and seen him out cat'n around town on occassion too, maybe all the church time makes up for that, or maybe that takes the edge off to where he missed a couple of thngs along the way and they caught up with him...

A week of unpaid leave before Christmas? It’s time the citizens of Durant know why the city leadership decided to penalize its chief guardian.

I just think people should step back and realize that just because a person acts one way in public doesn't mean that they act the same way behind close doors. How do we as durant citizens know what is really going on behind closed doors.Everyone needs to quit making judgments and blaming particular sides, when we don't know the complete truth. Every story has three sides- both parties and then there is the truth.

I have known a lot of people who go to church and seem like they have good hearts and such and turn out to be the most terrible person you could be away from church. I am here to tell people you did not know him like I did. You poeple do not have a clue how terrible he is and I am going to leave it at that. Now you people can judge me or say bad things about me but I have known him a lot longer then you people have.

KW of Kingston, "A cop who broke the law?". A personnel policy is not law.

I have seen Chief Rudick in church many times. He is an honest person with a heart for the citizens. We can't let this situation influence him to leave. Support the Chief and he will continue to do good things for Durant. If he leaves, the police officers will be back where they were several years ago...mean and nasty.

I want to say I support Chief Rudick. He has done more for our city than any other Chief of police. He has his hands full with a bunch of whiny cops.
