MARIETTA, Okla. - City officials say Police Chief William Baker resigned at Tuesday’s city council meeting. Baker was suspended back in September over accusations he violated police policy and city code.

He was hired as chief of police back in September of last year after serving as an officer with the department.

Marietta Mayor Scott Birdsall says he plans to name assistant chief Scott Cheney as an interim police supervisor until formal plans for a permanent replacement can be made.
